Ladies & Gentlemen,

Back around 2007 K-Line by Lionel introduced some stand alone work any where on the tracks rolling stock, in their premier Catalog, the CNJ Operating Ballast Dump Car 6-21353, the Southern Operating Log Dump Car 6-21437 and the REA top loading, Operating Refrigerator Box 6-21251, does the 990 Legacy, have the capability to run these K-line cars, their original controller was a k-Line by Lionel mini remote control.

Dave-

Unfortunately no, as the K-Line cars do not have TMCC receivers. From what I read in the manual (available here), the remote can support up to 24 cars, each with a unique ID set by dip switches on the underside of each car. Think of K-Line's remote control as an updated version of Lionel's Magic-Electrol control system from the early Postwar era, and TMCC/Legacy as a modern computer. The concept of both systems is similar, but the technology is totally different.

Dave~

Williams by Bachmann has recently released some of the Kline style operating cars with there own remote.  I have read the remotes may look the same but are not compatible. I would like to convert the Williams By Bachmann NYC O Scale Operating Box Car to tmcc, but have not had a chance to do it yet.

I did convert a MTH dump car to tmcc, directions are on the err site. It was fairly easy.
