I thought I was doing pretty good being new to command control. I had my K4 running around my track and everything was working great until I bought another engine and tried to add it. Now nothing works at all. Not sure what I did but I referred back to the legacy manual but it seems pretty vague on troubleshooting anything. Any help would be great. I assume an odyssey engine works like a legacy, but then I don't know why my K4 is not working either. Trying to add an M1 Mountain but now I have nothing at all....

Try a reset on everything.
Really not much info to go o
1) Are you properly changing engine ID's?
2) Only legacy engines can be set to Legacy Mode, all others need to be TMCC or CAB-1. All non-Legacy Lionel engines should be fine with TMCC
3) Are you seeing the entries for your other engines?
"Nothing running at all" you mean it just sits there with lights on and will not wake up?
I wish I could give more info but I am new to this. My K4 ran great and everything was working properly. Today I tried to add an M1 Mountain but this does not have a module. As I said, the manuals are pretty vague (to me) as far as how to add an engine without a module. Now I cant my K4 to run either. Like J Daddy says, Lights on nobody home hahaha
I noticed my handheld says cab 1 on the screen and the manual says cab 2. Could this be the problem?
Heres a link to the "product instructional videos" on Lionels website. They are done in short segments so you can go forward or back to get/review the information you need. There are 42 videos altogether, video13/ step #4 starts with programming
Marty E also has some videos on his site www.martye.com
The modules are not needed to set up an engine, so check the videos and see whats missing
CAB-1 is a command mode, it is the fallback default when nothing else works. TMCC is the best for non Legacy Lionel built engines
OK. I got it to run the M1. Now since this is not a legacy is it normal not to see the screen that allows you to control the smoke and other various effects? Is it normal when powering down the loco from the handheld that the lights and smoke unit stay on?
OK. Figured that out now. Had to manually add the info since there was no module.

Yes, the smoke must be shut down with the remote AUX1 -. On tmcc locos the lights stay on, they are technically not "powered down" only the sound is off.
If your not seeing icons for features what are you seeing? Numbers? If so try pushing the red CTC button on the remote. This should bring up icons and - for smoke down/ off and+ for smoke on/ up
Thanks for the help. Finally up to speed with the M1. That video link helped a lot. I seen what I was doing wrong. Now to reinstall the K4 and I am back in business. Thanks again everyone.
