I found the Legacy LCS in the new Lionel catalog to be very, very interesting. Then I got around to the realization that the LCS track portion is fast track. Like many others with larger layouts, I use track other than fast track. I read a few posts about folks using Gargraves and Ross, and I just happen to use Atlas track. Now before everyone beats me up about track brand - that's not what I'm posting about.
With all the variety out there, you would think that Lionel would offer something that we could use with just about any type of track, and thus appeal to a broader audience, including folks like me who might dive in and want to position 20 or more of these sensors around the layout. From the looks of the thing, it shouldn't be too hard to make something we can drill up and position from under the table - like the various switch motors we can choose for switches. Two parts here - the sensor in the middle, and the light cluster along side the track.
Does anyone else think that limiting this to fast track would really limit the market and overall buy in? I'd be game, but not if I have to fit in track pieces of FT to get it done. No way. My trains don't want to go bumpity bump!
I just love trains.
