I have this engine which is 1 of for on a consist. While running the front wheels will stop spinning and slow down the entire consist. I have found that on the test roller track I can easily stop the drive wheels and motor on the non tach front drive with very little resistance.however as expected when I try to slow the rear tach motor the engine speeds up and still has full power. Does this sound like the sign of a bad motor or possibly the stacker board. Any help would be appreciated. 30-2656-1

It sounds like perfectly normal operation. This is what you'll see when you have no load and stop the non-tach controlled motor. That's not to say that there isn't a problem somewhere in your specific case, just that the symptom you observe is not a problem it itself.
Thanks John, after running it some more it seems to cut out on the same section of track and the lights dim back and forth, but it stops the whole train. I doubt it is holding back 3 other engines so it must be shorting and interfering with the other engines. I will run it some more tonight.
Well, that seems to point to the track, or at least something about that section that is triggering the behavior.
Are both pickup good for AC power? Clean wheels and good ground? If engine loosing power your trying to drag or push it. G
After running for a few minutes on a roller test track without the shell, it slowed and died again. Moving the wiring made it come back to life. I retightened all of the roller pickup wires and grounds as well as reseated all connectors.
it is now running well, thanks for the help!
