"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I've long been an LGB fan. I really don't have the room, except a temporary "carpet central" for G Gauge. Either way, I'd like to build a small LGB collection - I have one set but would like a few more cars, another starter set, track, etc.

I know Trainworld is a big LGB dealer but I prefer not to deal with them. Can anyone recommend other LGB dealers in the US?

I'm brand new in starting a small garden G scale. So bare with me I have been doing a lot of reading studying and buying but have a long way to go.

Besides using Charles Ro I have found interesting sites for LGB and other G scale projects as well.

All my track will be LGB brass and currently I only have one LGB starter set. I am currently waiting for things I have ordered from these companies.

I have stumbled over others but currently dealing with these .

Seems I need to pay attention carefully to the different scales used with #1 gauge 45mm track. Different companies have some different scales. Very confusing to me sometimes.  Work in progress.

I do believe  LGB is predominately 1:22.5

Help me if I'm wrong on that.

God Luck

Larry,

Thanks. I was not aware of "onlytrains.com". They look to have good prices and service. I'll look further later.

There is a dynamite deal on four NIB LGB freight cars on the For Sale forum. I've spent a bit too much $$ lately so I'm reluctantly holding off. I'm not in any particular rush to get back into LGB but the itch has been strong over the past year. I just love the LGB products.

As for track, I think the trains are all 45mm gauge and will all run on the same track. I believe the size of the trains (think 027, O gauge scale, etc) is what varies.

Thanks - good luck with your G Gauge adventure.

JONMUSE: Thanks for the link. That looks like a good dealer and I'll seriously consider ordering from him in the future.

NJCJOE - Been watching your post. Very, very tempted. Spent far more money than I should lately so that is the only thing holding me back.

Getting back into LGB isn't urgent but it is something I really want to do, especially before Christmas. I'd like an LGB running around the Christmas tree again this year for the first time in a very long time.

Guy, I too am in the infant stages of G scale garden railway.  Trains On Tracks, last week had their LGB starter set for $299.99 (LGB Stainz passenger starter with sound & smoke #72302).  As JONMUSE noted Rhineland Trains is very good as well as Reindeer Pass (www.reindeerpass.com).  I also have been impressed with USA Trains products a well and MTH's Gauge 1.  I guess I can always run 2 sets of tracks, one for LGB & one for something else.  I hope some of our veteran G scale forum members will see this topic and advise we fledglings .

My train room is about 26' x 28' and I have installed around-the-room 2 level Mianne benchwork.  The upper level will be for G gauge.  I've acquired all the LGB track and switches that I need, but I still have to lay the track and wire it up.  I plan to have 3 independent loops.  One loop will be running DCS for MTH Gauge One engines.  Another loop will be set up to run LGB MTS engines.  The third loop will run conventional, primarily for USA and Aristocraft engines.

I've had great experiences buying from Onlytrains.com.  They have a great selection of LGB equipment and accessories and offer excellent prices.  I have purchased a lot of USA trains from Charles Ro.  My only G gauge purchases from Trainworld were the LGB Amtrak Genesis engines and passenger cars (bought the MTS and Diesel sound modules for these engines from Onlytrains).
