RickO posted this in a different thread and it got me thinking...
Bottom line with Lionel is......Lionel is like a box of chocolates.....you never really know what you gonna get...... some items are great.... some are complete duds, some are "almost there"....some aren't even close.
I think that all manufacturers serve up boxes of chocolates. What is your "almost there" item?
Mine is Lionel's Chisholm Trail Cattle Car. The car is a ton of fun to play with and the rail sounds are cool. So it scores high marks on the play value metric. But it gets a "what were they thinking rating" when it comes to the end of train device on a car that would have been in service in the early 1900's. I also have to give Lionel a "what were they thinking" rating for making this a traditional (non-scale) sized car.
So, what is your almost there item? This topic is meant to be fun, so let's not get into which manufacturer is better than the other or how much this stuff costs.
