Not perfect, but this means we have to be well on our way to a DCCesque decoder and a multichannel handheld, that will allow control of anything.
I know this is like posting the sky is blue, and it has probably been discussed adnauseum, but I'm just that excited!
Personally today, it means the Polar Express is now on the "mainline" of my Christmas layout. which means wider curves, which means, slower speeds, which means less noise, which means it can run during a conversation. So I'm a happy happy guy. Once it is off warranty a volume pot, and some lighting changes and wooooooo hooooooo.
But bigger picture. If I had the money, I could buy the brass GG1 I want, or settle for a Williams and be able to run it on my DCS track, with a MINOR modification, as opposed to $170 plus surgery/per engine.
There is a whole list of things, I wish this did, from volume control, to better speed control, to lighting, to you name it, but that can come later. The company that embraces this could sell decoders for passenger car lighting, decoders that allow folks to control any engine that you can get wires between the pickups and the motor.
This won't replace DCS as I can't say enough about their speed control. I'm sure Lionels, TMCC, Legacy, whatever the most current thing, is also safe, but for the CHristmas crowd and any big modeler that wishes they could run those old things... wooo hooo
Thanks for taking the lead here Lionel!
