new Pennsy Flyer LionChief; chuffs, but will not move; no PFA, no bell, no whistle. New batteries, light on on the remote, power to the track. Whatsamatter?
Had the same happen with brand new polar express remote set right out of the box from amazon. They sent me a replacement set. I just swapped engines and all was well. Even both remotes worked on the good engine. FWIW i took the broken engine apart before sending it back to see if maybe a lose wire or an easy fix. Nothing lose or broke. I figured the PCB was bad:The new lionchief PC board is the same size as the electronic e-units.fits in the same plastic holder as traditional e-units.It is all a one piece package. The board has all miniature plugs on it for the motor, speaker, chuff switch, and pickup rollers. So installing a new PCB would be very easy. Would have just ordered one ,but the polar one was out of stock. The board was around $45 I belive. Check the lionel parts web sight and see if yours is avalible. I bet that you have a defective Lionchief PCB. If it is avalible the install seems very easy and you save lionel service fees and shipping by doing it your self. I it is still under warranty maybe they will just swap boards with you and let you install it yourself. Worth a try.
