Hey Guys,

My son's got a Lionel 0-8-0 that came in a starter set that runs great on CW-80's and CW-40's.  The curious thing is it runs sluggish on both PW transformers I have (1032 & RW).  I know the transformers are fine as they both run my PW 2025 and my 1980's converted DC loco just fine (the RW is a very solid transformer).  So what's up?  Any fix?

I'd love to pick up a good PW Z transformer to run both lines, but I am afraid it would not run that loco well either.  On the flip side the old RW makes our MTH Pacific much happier when using the basic Remote commander.  I could leave the CW-80, but I was just nervous about using it with the MTH and Remote Commander since it was not "recommended."  Any help would be appreciated!

I had read your post on that somewhere else and that is what I plan on.  Question on that though.  If I re-do the layout to have two separate power blocks one with my RW and one with the CW-80 how would that work with the DCS remote commander when the train goes from one block to another?  Would I need some kind of switch?  Is it even possible with my setup?  I do know the RW and CW-80 are in phase if that helps.

The DCS-RC was designed with a single power source in mind.  It's an entry level system.

One way that you may be able to run them with multiple transformers is to connect the two power districts with a .1uf 50V capacitors between the center rails.  This has worked in the past for someone else here with sidings and the full DCS system, so it's worth a shot.
