I have a Lionel 125 Whistle Station circa 1950 (Grey base, tan building, Maroon roof) that I recently brought out of storage.  The motor makes about as much noise as the whistle. Is this normal for this piece or is there a way to quite the motor so it doesn't detract as much Whistle 125bWhistle 125afrom the whistle? Thanks for your help.

The noise is coming from dry motor bearings. You can oil these without removing the whistle from the shack. A couple of drops on the top bearing where the armature shaft comes through. The bottom bearing you can reach through the door with a needle point oiler. Poke it in the lower motor casting where the little armature bearing is.
