The loco has a diecast metal body and is heavy - some people have managed to strip the nylon gear.  Don't overload it with too many cars and don't make sudden starts/stops, and it should be OK.  If you did manage to bust that, the chassis is the same as the NW-2 switcher and you could replace the nylon gear with a metal gear.  I have the C&NW one and so far haven't had any problems.  They are nice engines and sit prototypically low - unlike the MTH H10's (sit way too high).
