I came into possession of a Lionel steamer. I believe it is a lion chief.. However I know absolutely nothing about Lionel locomotives. I want to run it in conventional mode. I have it on the track. The light and the sounds come on. However, it will not move . I have cleaned the wheels. They are perfect! The engine looks great! I have found a set of instructions online that belong to a similar engine. Trying to figure out which slide button on the bottom goes in what direction. I have tried them in various directions with no luck other than getting the headlight and the sounds to come on. I have tried the direction button. I have tried cycling the arm of the transformer on and off. What am I missing here?

Note:  there is a TIU that the power is passing through to get to the track. Do I need to completely eliminate The TIU?

Thank you! I think this really stinks that Lionel created these and they could not be run without their remote. I was hoping to give it to somebody who has a bunch of conventional stop. I see they changed and future editions they made so it could be run conventionally. Fortunately the control was packed with it and everything works absolutely perfectly. But whoever approved this at Lionel was a very dumb decision. Super glad I have MTH and DCS
