Well guys, now that you got our attention, is there anything in there that may offer any excitement in the new never done before department hhhmmmm.

Lionel doesn't look to kindly on shops that leak information.  A big shop in Georgia last year posted the catalog listing early and was pulled down a few hours later.  Charlie has done a good job at teasing without leaking.  Or is that leaking a tease?

Lionel 2016 catalogs go LIVE at Nassauhobby.com!

It's called False Advertising and he should change the title.

He didn't say they are live.  He said they go live...which once you open the thread he tells you when.  Just like a greeting card.  Much ado about nuttin'.

Marty,

I think Charlie knew exactly what he was doing.

From a purely journalistic perspective -- at least the way I was trained -- professional journalists often use "present tense" in a news headline to indicate something that has already happened.  For example, "Philadelphia Eagles Fire Chip Kelly"... or "Royals Defeat Mets for World Series Title".

Upon reading either of those headlines, 99% of the population would conclude that those events have already happened.  Nobody I know would interpret them as events that "will happen" at some point in the future.  So in that sense, I think Charlie was just playing games with folks, and he wrote the topic title so folks would click on the thread -- thinking the catalog was already posted NOW.  And it worked... considering there are 723 views of this topic as of my posting these comments here.

It's all part of the various machinations dealers feel are "fair game" to build visibility of their name, since they're all vying for pre-orders in the BTO era of toy/model trains.  Charlie earns lots of kudos for his posts that pass along product shipping status.  No doubt there.  But this thread wins him a roll-your-eyes emoticon for the misleading headline.  The more appropriate headline would have been "Lionel 2016 Catalog GOING Live on 1/20 at www.nassauhobby.com", or "Lionel 2016 Catalog To Go Live on 1/20...".    But neither of those headlines -- although more accurate -- would have garnered nearly as many (false) clicks to the thread!!!

I am sorry I can't get into specifics about what is in it. Many of you will be quite happy. New tooling and some old upgraded favorites are back too. Lionel is teaming up with Disney once again and new accessories to please many price points. After looking thru all the catalogs I am very pleased with the BTO offerings. Check it out at our site Monday. Thanks!

Is it the 18 or 20. Big steam hint ?

big Steam hint? 3 big steamers!

now don't ask me for more hints but some are colorful. :-)

Hhhmmmm.... colorful steamers bring to mind Southern Pacific Daylight (first and foremost), Great Northern, and Chessie Steam Special.  Thankfully, I'm not in the market for any big steam right now.  So I'll just watch from the sidelines.

C&O Yellow Belly?

Another good choice too.  But I'll put my $2 bet on the SP Daylight, which of course opens the door for a set of Daylight passenger cars in Lionel's new 21" ABS offerings.     The odds of that happening are probably MUCH better than my chances of winning the Powerball lottery... which I didn't.

But did it have whistle-steam???     The cab-forward did, but the GS-2 didn't.

Hahaha it's not with a 500 hit I get 9 for mine and 1400 for a new one =pass

But that's EXACTLY what Lionel wants us all to do.  They inflate the new selling prices so everybody NEEDS to sell a current item on the roster AND shell out a few C-notes to boot.    It's part of their "new math".
