Lionel 2354 NYC Diesel (Best Passenger Car set)

I'm looking for some recommendations for a passenger car set to trail my postwar 2354 ABA. I currently have some AMT Aluminum NYC cars for a 2046 Hudson consist and thought some paint matched cars would look terrific with the 2354. I've looked and found a half dozen different sets. I'm hoping that some first hand experience can help sort them out. I've read on the forum about some issues with trucks and couplers. My old 2500 series cars have been trouble free and I'd like to find something similar. I'm not looking for cars with interiors, just something of quality the goes with the F3 paint scheme.

I’ve had the MPC version of the 2354 since they were issued back in the late 70’s/early 80’s. They also sold a set of 15” aluminum passenger cars to go along with the ABA set. The cars can still be found for reasonable prices and might be a good match for your post war engines.
