I have 2 of these floodlights.  Both are original post-war, silver towers.  One  I bought a few years back, one is from my childhood set, probably 50's vintage.  They are FRUSTRATING.  Sometimes they will come on when I turn on the power, sometimes not.   They never, ever, stay light for an entire operating session.  i've resorted to the "yard stick" disciplinary  action which works, occasionally.  I don't see anything visible that would cause this...any suggestions for trouble shooting would be welcome.   Iv'e moved and tried to ensure the brackets holding the lights is firmly attached to the black pole running down the center; checked the fahnestock clips and they seem secured and the insulator on the bottom of the clip attached to center pole looks fine.  I've wiggled the bulb holders  a bit to be sure they are contacting the holding arms...and I've bent slightly the entire bracket that holds  the lights.   Nothing has been a permanent fix.  Oh, yes, I've ensure the wires supplying power and sound are OK.   Power is constant  per the meter.

Yardstick techniques: the following work, but not always and not permanent...bang the  tower, bang the floodlights, bang my head....

thanks,

Hi, I have one. Had the same problem. Take a look under the top of the tower where the lamp bracketsare.  On the under side they are attached buy tabs. Mine had corrosion between the tabs. Mixed up some vinegar and salt. While I had power to it and held it upside down. Then applied some of the solution. Started to bubble around the tabs. Then the lamps started to light. Take a good look at yours for corrosion in that area.
