It goes to show, that some of the older items are not “junk”, and can get a new life.  Really awesome finished product.  It gets to live again!!!

I always liked this engine and the blue navy one.  However the camo paint job you gave this one makes me want one too.  I hope Lionel decides to reissue this engine with a similar camo paint scheme.  It looks great!

The blue #44 is US Army, not Navy.

The  older Lionel U.S. Army Missile engines,  #44, were, for some reason, painted blue.

I like the #45 U.S.M.C. Camo repaint.

That looks great, Dave!  Usually, I like to stick with the very original look, but I like the beige camo you added.   Just the right touch without going overboard, as you said.

Locked and loaded on a track!  Note how the ‘radar screen’ is illuminated by the red bulb.  Also if you look at the 59 and 60 Lionel catalogs the operator is on the opposite side!!  So he can see the launch without turning around!   Artist renderings were not necessarily accurate in those days of selling ‘fantasy’.  Its still a neat car with good action and it can be fired manually or with an ucs track!  Enjoy those trains!

All I can say is.....WOW🤯! Absolutely love the paint work you did. Looks better than new!

Let me add my kudos even if a bit late. You must be very skilled at camoflage painting to produce that result. And yes, it is very interesting to see the difference in the body work between your unit and the newer version I have.
