Guys, I just repaced the ac reg board in this engine as the original one was bad. Now it smokes very good only there is one little issue. With the cab2 smoke buttons it takes several ( more than three) button presses to turn off and to get it set back to high. It does turn on and off though. Is the ac reg board the wrong one maybe? I ordered this ac reg board part # 691ACRG103 (SEE PIC) and is the one lionel sent me. If so will this hurt anything to leave it this way? Thanks.

Uhh... Legacy smoke regulators take three presses to go from off to full smoke, and from full smoke to off. If you have the control type set as Legacy (you should be using that setting), you'll see it telling you smoke LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH.
Your are correct. Thanks for answering john. My engine is set to legacy. It has the orange modual and all the setting were configured using it. I double checked all that also. I reailize I always seem to have strange issues.
That is why I asked this question. It is puzzling me too. You are 100% right in the low med and high being shown on the cab2 screen and it only taking 3 presses of aux 8 or9 to get the smoke too full on or back to off.
My engine however now is taking more than 3 aux 8 presses to shut off. It also asks like it takes more than 3 presses of aux 9 to get it on high. The reg board is wired in correctly (I double checked that) and was the one ordered off the 6-11202 parts list that lionel sent me. It does turn on and off however with this new board. Its just not taking the normal 3(low,med,high) to get to on or off.
Any Ideas as to whats going on here? Is the reg board bad? Will I damage any other boards in this engine by leaving it this way?
The symptoms are that the regulator board isn't getting the serial commands. My experience is that usually means the regulator board is dying if there's not any other problems.
Thanks.
John one more quick question. All all the ac reg boards like the one pictured above the same in all legacy engines or do they differ from engine to engine? I would like to orders some spares just for when one happens to go bad.
They all look pretty much the same, but there are different models. Truthfully, I don't know why as the function is so similar, only Lionel could tell you why there are multiple models.
