Hello all '

I attempted to run my subject brass Lionel Dreyfuss Hudson and I'm having a problem with the rail sounds. The chugging is erratic and works when it feels like. It is also very low volume unlike everything else like the whistle, bell excetera. The instructions advised to paint the three lobes on one of the axles of the to produce more chugging. This does not seem to help. Do you have any ideas?

Much thanks, Jerry

Could be the background sounds (a.k.a. "blend volume") are turned down. If this is the case, take your cab and blow the whistle to make sure you are communicating to your locomotive. Then press AUX1, 1, 1, 1,1 1, 1 and listen for an increase in the background steam hiss and the chuffing sounds (if your engine is in motion). BTW, the background sounds can be turned down with the keystroke combination AUX1, 4,4,4,4…etc.

I'm unfamiliar with the instructions regarding painting a third lobe you mentioned.

I think Rudy (Railsounds) is referring to the TMCC command version.

Your loco is the brass early 1990's version with conventional Railsounds.

From reading the instructions that Benny has provided the link to. It sounds like the chuff switches off if the loco is run above scale speeds. Also I think the chuff switches must be optical based as the instructions mention the painting of the lobes with Matt (flat) paint. Maybe the sensors need cleaning or the shiny metal on the lobes is no longer shiny and needs cleaning?
