Does anyone have this set? How does the engine run? Are the metal trucks warped and bent into like a U shape facing outwards?
I am interested in just the engine, does anyone know who is offering a breakup?
Thanks!

Call up Nassua Hobbies, I wanted the Lobsta car and he had broken up about 20 sets for guyz who wanted that car. Unfortunately I didn't get the lobsta car so the hunt goes on.
Will do! But I want to know if the side frames on the trucks are bent outward before I buy anything. I have seen photos and heard on another forum that alot of engines truck sides were bent outward.
Mark,
I have found that On E-bay a place called hobbyspeed sells break up sets. They may have some better pictures or be able to answer your question.
Look for 6-81032
That guy on the Bay is always high. Sheesh.
Check Gryzboski's. I believe there was a thread here recently on them breaking up this set.
Yeah they are high, I once got a complete Polar Express set from Charles Ro for just $20.00 more than hobbyspeed wanted for the engine from it. Sold the rest off and ended up with the Loco for free.
I have this set and it is very nice. The trucks on my loco were not bent although the dynamic brake detail on body was installed backwards. Easy fix. It's a smooth running engine with very good sound in my opinion. I did the pre order and got the set for a nice price. Overall I'm extremely happy with it.
Thanks Gary, Since I collect the PWC/CC series I was gonna just pick up the engine, since Lionel Stopped the PWC and CC Series...

Mike, very carefully pull up on the dynamic brakes while rocking back & forth and it pops right off. Turn it around and snap it back on.
hello guys and gals..........
Does this engine have pulmore motor or dual can motors ?
Tiffany
Single CAN motor vertically mounted.

That is correct Mike, not glued, just snaps into place With two molded in plastic pins that go down through the top of loco body.
We have the engine, it is NOT bent and you can call us to order. 516-378-9594

This set is great...but why over the past 5 years have Lionel's set boxes gone ultra flimsy. The structure is weakly taped together...not even glued or stapled. Not to mention the individual boxes barely stay square in your hand. Even in the past the Chinese boxes were much better.
I have noticed the cheapening of the boxes, too. It is getting hard to keep them in decent shape or even open them w/o tearing the flaps. And they won't stay shut unless the flaps are taped. Pretty ridiculous considering the price increases we have been seeing from Lionel.
I like the looks of the B&M set a lot -- very postwar vibe, and the diesel has the correct PW number, 2346, too.
I got my Lobster car from Gryzboski's. not sure if they have anymore. I passed on the engine since I have the orginal 2346, but if I didn't I would have picked it up - can motor & incorrect railings ( for a PW engine) not withstanding
The railings are a mystery to me. Lionel recently made the effort to re-tool the Geep frame stamping to return it to the PW style. Why undo that only a few years later.
