Featuring a touch of realism with faded lettering, mud, dirt, dust, and rust, these locomotive represent just a few of the daily issues all engines face on the tracks. These weathered locomotives are done by hand in the USA by train enthusiast and expert Harry Heike. He brings over 20 years of experience and personally weathers each locomotive, making it a true special one of a kind piece in your collection. This Limited Edition locomotive will only be featured in 2014 Signature Volume 2 and will be accompanied with a Certificate of Authorization from the artist and Lionel. Norfolk & Western Power from Coast to Coast In 1919, the American Locomotive Company built forty-five 2-8-8-2 steam locomotives to the specifications of the United States Railway Administration. These locomotives were the biggest that the USRA had ever designed and were destined for the Norfolk& Western Railway. After almost a quarter century on the Norfolk & Western, nineteen Y-3 locomotives were sold to other railroads at the behest of the federal government, including Santa Fe. In 1947, the Santa Fe found a buyer for its 1790-class when the Virginian Railway purchased seven of the locomotives. Oh you are killing me Patrick.  That is Santa Fe, and soooo gorgeous, but it will stick out so far in curves and I really don't have room for it.  But I really am going to try to resist.  

 

I really love the Niagara set I bought last week, though - a loco of a size that looks much better running around my layout - doesn't stick out too much on curves, and I appreciate the free boxcar you threw in with that set. Much appreciated.
