I have a nice 1656 Steam Switcher and a 6403B tender. Can anyone tell me how to operate the tender bell and back up lights and which wire plugs into which receptacle?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

You can find the information if you go to Olsen's Toy Train Parts website. One plus from this website is their "Library" function, which you can find by scrolling down to bottom of page, and click on library. From there it lists Locomotives, etc., and you need to go there, scroll down to 1656 locomotive, and it has all the info you need.
Olsens website "Library" has most of the Postwar items, that come from Repair Manuals. IT is a valuable resource, and well worth looking at.
Thank you for the information. I tried them and could only get parts and numbers from the library. I need to know how to operate the bell and which way to hook up the wires. Anybody have one of these that can steer me in the right direction?
Thanks

Thanks Larry that straightened out the wire hook-up and I did have them on wrong. Can you lead me to that same type of information regarding the bell operation on the 6403B Tender.
Thanks again, I do appreciate your effort.

The switch under the tender turns the bell on or off. Place the tender on the track and turn up the power. If you don't hear it ringing after about 5-10 seconds move the switch to other position. If still no bell then the bi-metallic switch needs to be adjusted or there is some other problem.

I did look for a switch but nothing that obvious, I was looking of a little mini switch like on the MTH locomotives. I can't believe I didn't see that. Anyway, I tried it for several laps in both directions and nothing happened. I'll shoot a little contact cleaner around before I dig too deep.
Thanks again to all of you.

You will have to trace power through the on/off switch, the bi-metallic switch contacts and to the bell.
Larry
It's definitely not a mini-switch but an old fashioned blade-type switch like you see on the top of post-war Lionel steam engines. If you're missing the switch, that is the problem. Have you opened up the tender to see if the thermostat-like switch is also in there?
Bill
Thanks everyone. I haven't opened it up yet. As you can imagine that if I did't see that huge switch, who knows what will happen when I open it up. One more year before cataract removal, I was hoping for this year but they told me I have to wait.
