I have a Lionel 8473 Coca Cola engine that needs a few parts. The bell housing is there but no bell. On the front of the engine there is a wheel guard missing. It has the back set but one is missing on the front. Who would carry these parts? I have asked a few parts suppliers but no luck yet.

Wheel guard? Do you mean the rubber traction tire?
No it's a side rail on one of the trucks.
I've got sideframes. Drop me a line offlist.

Nick, just so you have some understanding of how locomotives are constructed in true life, those sideframes aren't guarding the wheels. They are actually part of what hold the axles in place, equalize the trucks, provide traction to the rails and apply brakes to the wheels. It's only in toy train models that they are going along for the ride.
You shouldn't have any trouble locating those sideframes, especially with Rob's handy search link.
Thanks for the info but who carries these parts? I tried North Lima but they don't have the parts.
Those side frames are tough to come by as a separate part. Any time I've needed one, I had to cannibalize one from a junk motor truck. I suggest checking with Mitch to see what he has available.
There are variations in how those trucks were made over the years. Hopefully he has one that matches your needs.
I gave up on riveting the last one I had to replace, and used a 2-56 screw and nut with some thread locker.
The side frames I have are, in fact, cannibalized from a junk motor truck... ;-)
Already heard from Nick, and have sent him a pic.
