At one time these were quite the novelty... But lately Lionel is pumping them out for nearly every locomotive. Honestly, I can't imagine folks wanting more than one of these -- and I've yet to even order any of them, nor do I plan to. Perhaps it's Lionel's way of meeting factory minimums -- yet it still gives the appearance that they aren't producing as many decorated models? Maybe a way to help avoid the need for big blowouts down the road. But this strategy could backfire, if interest is low. In any case, with so few being produced, dealers most likely would only get one. And at least for now, they're holding prices relatively high on these units.

My thinking is that maybe some of these models had castings that were below paint quality.
The Lionel/Kline Berk with all that add on brass piping would have made one awesome pilot model.
