As has been discussed here the original PE Berkshire is not the best puller. Is the Berkshire in the Pocono set (6-81025) more powerful? If so, are the shells interchangeable?
I'm pretty sure that the answer to all of your questions is "yes." But if I were going to spend the money for a new loco or set, I would put it toward of the LionChief Plus "726 clones" that came out a couple of years ago. They are a much nicer loco, better proportions, more powerful and just overall a better design. My $.02.
I’ve killed so many PE starter set Berks, I switched to a Railking Berk and painted it up in PE scheme....now that one lasted two years running everyday from Halloween till Jan1.....this year, I built a custom one I’m hoping to get many years out of....but, if I had to make a suggestion, I’d go with a Railking Berk from the starter sets made years ago, and have fun lettering it up for the PE...
