My Lionel AC-12 with Railsounds 5.0 was running fine and then the sound stopped. No chuff, whistle or bell. Engine goes forward and in reverse using command but no rear tender lights and the back up light does not come on in reverse. What has happened? Reach me at milt@paiger.org. Thanks

Interested in this as my chuff sounds have gone caput! All else works as normal. Loc has been boxed for nearly a year. Replaced chuff switch but didn’t cure. Haven't tried resetting board yet.
With that combination of symptoms I’d try an ID and feature reset first before looking inside the tender. The full reset instructions are on page 26 of the manual for this TMCC engine, which is available here:

If that does not cure the issue I’d check whether a board in the tender has worked loose.
Actually, this sounds like a total audio failure.
Put the tender on the tracks without the locomotive, does it wake up then? If not, time to pop the top and test the boards and speaker.
John, You are correct. With the tender alone on the track there are no lights, sound or anything. Which board or boards in the tender are suspect? Apparently, there are the motherboard, Railsounds 5 board and a power board.
