I bought a used Lionel caboose. The body is made from metal. It is supposed to br lighted but naturally none of that came with it. It only has a coupler on one end. Now to the question. I was wondering if there is another way to light ot other than the Lionel part. Where would I need to attach the leads?

The first question is which Lionel Caboose? Can you givce us the Product number or road name and number or something to go off of so we know what you are working with?
The only Lionel caboose with a metal body that's been made in the past 50 years (that I'm aware of) is the no. 51702, a brass Pennsylvania N-8 made in 1991.
Lionel made a number of diecast NYC 19000 style cabeese starting around 1991 as well. Three versions.

There is more than the N-8:
This could be one of those postwar prr n5 metal cabooses with stamped steel trucks.
The caboose is likely a red 2472 PRR N5. If has one coupler is was not lighted from the factory. You will need a pick-up assembly and a lamp socket assembly.
