The Lionel 6101154130 Diagonal Screw Hole Smoke units read "Out of Stock".

Does anyone know if or when they'll have them back in Stock??

I've had my fair share of these give me problems on my locos.

I can't seem to find Lionel email addy's for Service contact info.

The 691SMKP008 Pre-cut Smoke unit batting is also out of stock.

Almost all of the modern trains made by any of the manufacturers have little in the way of common parts.  If you are seriously concerned  about this issue you may want to consider only buying PW or MPC and the "pre upgraded" Williams stuff.  These are rugged trains with less detail/accuracy and more common parts that are more easily available.

I have not had problems getting parts and in the cases I did there were replacements available (e.g. Some one else's equivalent board/component).  Availability of parts is very, very, very far down on my issue list when buying model trains.

Are you kidding me? Lionel is the best at getting parts.  Maybe there changing out the motor issues they been having with getting new stock?

I just ordered batting 691SMKP008.  It is in stock.   Lionel parts are very easy to get and usually come within three days.   Call Bill for a motor.  If it is not in stock at Lionel, they usually fix that very quick.  I am an MTH guy and can not say enough good things about Lionel parts.  They are the best to deal with.  I usually order motors 12 at a time.  This is the first note I have ever seen about them being unavailable.  Thanks for the heads up on that as I am down to my last few.

Thanks Marty. Yes, initially I was a bit surprised they're out of both but then again after thinking about it and of course... "it's that time of year". I also think think that earlier this year we might of had a bad run of these but I think it's been resolved. I've heard on the grapevine that MTH had the same issue.

This last one that failed REALLY had an awful screech to it before the cab lights flashed. By far the worst one I've come across.  I oiled it but you could still hear it dragging as the motor ran so I just tossed it.

I don't know.  I have hard copy snap shots of 1999/2000 TMCC engine parts page that no longer come up on Lionel Web sites, finding more motors and other parts no longer available for more recent engines, and more items showing up as Lima Train Parts.  So I do think that certain items are no longer being stocked.

The web and parts processing is certainly first rate, but with the volume of different parts being used, with lack of commonality I think it is very hard to keep up.  All the series I motors now obsolete by a production change can't help either.  G
