That's right. You just need to unscrew the terminals, remove the wires and then do the screws up again. You might also need to loosen one or more of the clips holding the cable in place in order to remove the cable, but that's it.

I have several command control switches, and they work perfectly without the remote switch. You can always operate them manually by turning the lantern if you ever need to do so too. And if you ever wish to, it's just as easy to re-connect the remote switch in the future.

On my FasTrack Command Control switches you don't have to open anything up. The terminals are underside of the switch, and easily accessible.  Are your switches of the non-command variety Lee?
