So happy to receive my GS2 today. Just got done unwrapping and taking some photos. Hope you guys enjoy... I had hoped to do some video but my Legacy remote took a crap couple days ago :-( and had to send it back to Lionel. Man I can't wait to see this bad boy run next to my S3.....

Very nice. Looks like the drawbar/tether arrangement is different now vs. the previous run of this engine (mine has the IR boxes).
It's still an IR tether, just a much smaller footprint than previous releases. The original IR design was in a rather bulky looking, boxed metal enclosure with an opening for the IR eye to see out. This one just seems to be the eye and wiring laid directly on the drawbar and enclosed in shrink insulation tubing. An aesthetic improvement for sure.
By the way, the roadname's initials were SP, not S&P.
I still can't get over the detail and beauty of this engine, almost 30"!! I would put it right up there with the S3!
If they make another run of passenger cars for it, I will have to buy one. Just a beautiful engine. No other way to put it!
I am hoping they will make some soon. I have been looking on ebay for the cars with the soundstation with no luck. I guess the Shasta will work but the colors are off a little?
I would like to see someone post a video of this engine.

I will post one but i didn't know I had to sign for mine.I will get a vid up tomorrow.
I would enjoy seeing a video also. Its probably gonna be a week or so before i can run mine, pure torture....

What a beautiful engine. Thanks for posting the video! That thing keeps pulling me closer and closer every time I see it. I passed the last couple of times it came a around. I am not sure I can resist much longer. I am hoping for the $1,000 range before I pop. I have a Black Diamond on order also. Two engines I have wanted for a long time.
It has the same boards the santa Fe 3751 has .I know I change make it have steam affects .. Just don't know it's ii want to drill a hold in the shell lol.
jojofry,
Thanks for posting the video, it sounds fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The whistle is incredible WOW
Mine has been at my dealer for two weeks already. Just saving up the funds to pick it up. I should have it by this week coming.
Thanks,Alex
Thanks for posting the video. Can't wait to run mine... Jeff
Very nice indeed. I ordered the black version (Don't ask me why. Being exposed to rivet-counters can warp the brain), and you've given me more reason to look forward to taking possession of my locomotive.
The horn on the GS-2 sounds a little bit better than the GS-4 to me personally, but the whistle is seems a little too high. The CrewTalk is pretty cool though.
I have the K-Line version from a few years back built for the TCA. They called it a GS4, but it has tiny drivers which I don't like the looks. However, the whistle and the horn were excellent. I had problems with the early TMCC operation it had so I had it converted to DCS PS2. No horn now, darn it.
Question: did some of the GS4s have small drivers?

Question: did some of the GS4s have small drivers?
No, all GS4s had the same diameter of drivers. But some classes did have smaller; see below:
GS classes 1, 2, & 6 = 73 ½" drivers.
GS classes 3, 4, & 5 = 80” drivers.

I guess K-Line got it wrong then.

As I recall, that wasn't all K-Line got incorrect on their SP "Daylight" model. Look at the difference in the crosshead guides.
