It's still an IR tether, just a much smaller footprint than previous releases.  The original IR design was in a rather bulky looking, boxed metal enclosure with an opening for the IR eye to see out.  This one just seems to be the eye and wiring laid directly on the drawbar and enclosed in shrink insulation tubing.  An aesthetic improvement for sure.

By the way, the roadname's initials were SP, not S&P.

What a beautiful engine. Thanks for posting the video! That thing keeps pulling me closer and closer every time I see it. I passed the last couple of times it came a around.  I am not sure I can resist much longer. I am hoping for the $1,000 range before I pop. I have a Black Diamond on order also. Two engines I have wanted for a long time.

I have the K-Line version from a few years back built for the TCA.  They called it a GS4, but it has tiny drivers which I don't like the looks.  However, the whistle and the horn were excellent.  I had problems with the early TMCC operation it had so I had it converted to DCS PS2.  No horn now, darn it.

Question:  did some of the GS4s have small drivers?

No, all GS4s had the same diameter of drivers.  But some classes did have smaller; see below:

GS classes 1, 2, & 6 = 73 ½" drivers.

GS classes 3, 4, & 5 = 80” drivers.

I guess K-Line got it wrong then.

As I recall, that wasn't all K-Line got incorrect on their SP "Daylight" model. Look at the difference in the crosshead guides.
