Lionel IRV2 Add-On IR Sensor Sleds

If the IRV2 products are cencelled, why did lionel bother to put the IR emitters in their engines?  And they seem to continue to be doing so.  Why?

According to Lionel the sales were just not there.  And yes the extra sleds were released.  I find it funny they claim there were no sales as I could never find them to purchase them.  You can still get the fast track IRV so that’s why the sensors will continue to be installed in legacy engines.

Are there more folks with FastTrack layouts?

Most big layouts seem to have Gargraves track, Ross track, or Atlas track where the individual sleds would be used.

My dealer NEVER got their allotment.  So much for a preorder!

Consider this. Lionel began selling S gauge Legacy engines 10 years ago with the emitters but has never made an S gauge FasTrack Sensor Track. Simple solution that can be done with most any track. Buy the O gauge FasTrack Sensor Track(s) and remove the sensor sled and the control sled. Put the sensor sled in the track of your choice. Here is a picture of one mounted in SHS/MTH track. The control sled is about 3’ away behind the layout fascia. I have three on my layout.

I bought another IRV2 to get two more sleds.  FYI, CT Trains has the IRV2 still in stock.
