NJC JOE's two new standard gauge sets have made me question would could have been if Lionel had continued to produce newly designed Standard Gauge. We all know these two sets (Hiawatha and Commodore Vanderbilt) were blown out, but now command prices close to their suggested retails.

What would you like to have seen produced by Lionel in Standard Gauge?

Keeping with the idea of re-using the Hudson chassis I would have loved to have seen an Empire State Express set to go with my Hiawatha and Commodore Vanderbilt!

Or maybe a Dreyfus with Scullins!

A challenger would definetly be cool, but I would want that beast with 4 motors. 2 per set of 6 drivers. Now we're talking. Keep coming up with other ideas, maybe someone out there is listening to this.

Also like the camelback idea.

600e would be nice but I think I would rather have a Standard Gauge version of a J1e with diecast boiler rather than the look of a elongated 400e with another set of drivers.

That being said I would still like to own a 600e someday as well.

The reproductions are nice but I for one are at the point that I need something new. The super 381 was my latest aquisition, which is outstanding, but I would like to see some newer offerings that are in the same class as the Hiawatha and the CV.

As cost of tooling is always an issue, perhaps Mike could issue these as individual pieces (engines first , then cars the next year) in lieu of sets.
