Lionel Modern Standard Gauge

The Pensy GG-1, for sure. Just as the streamlines were the next development for the steamers, the GG-1 was the next generation electric.  A logical move, and still in keeping with the steam/electric ethos of standard gauge.  There's still time, Mr Wolf.

Good post. Definitely the Empire State Express and a GG1. Great choices. I would really like a CNJ Camelback. Ah, if only.

You could do any number of streamlined Pacifics as well. 

 

Me, I would like to see an Aeolus, or how about a giant Royal Blue?

 

 

   Flyer should have made the Aeolus, in that sand cast aluminum! Yum!

 

   Or a wide gauge Zephyr!

 

   I might have to make use of my father in law's foundry. Like a need another project. The Cardinal sets are already piling up in the shop closet!

600E

The 600E would be an obvious choice. And how about a John Wilkes or Black Diamond? Lionel could use the tooling from the heavyweight cars in the Vanderbilt set.

 

Of course, the ultimate would be a Challenger using two of the six-wheel motors!

A challenger would definetly be cool, but I would want that beast with 4 motors. 2 per set of 6 drivers. Now we're talking. Keep coming up with other ideas, maybe someone out there is listening to this.

 

Also like the camelback idea.

 

600e would be nice but I think I would rather have a Standard Gauge version of a J1e with diecast boiler rather than the look of a elongated 400e with another set of drivers.

 

That being said I would still like to own a 600e someday as well.

 

The reproductions are nice but I for one are at the point that I need something new. The super 381 was my latest aquisition, which is outstanding, but I would like to see some newer offerings that are in the same class as the Hiawatha and the CV.

 

As cost of tooling is always an issue, perhaps Mike could issue these as individual pieces (engines first , then cars the next year) in lieu of sets.

Since Lionel has made the Vanderbilt in standard gauge I would love to see one in red or blue with matching cars I would definitely buy one of those KG

The twin-can drive on both the Lionel SG CV and Hiawatha was a powerful design, and should be adopted by LCT.

CNJ Camelback and The Black Diamond or John Wilkes would get my vote. A GG1 would be good, too!  Of course this needs to be after the daughter's wedding and the house rebuild post Irene fix up.
