some of you may recall my problem with the new Legacy 4-4-2 Atlantic from this past October. Right out of the box it would not move at all when running in Conventional and the smoke unit turned on.

My dealer, The Train Shack in Burbank, CA, attempted to fix but found out it was probably a computer board problem. The three other Atlantics they had in stock exhibited the same issue, too.

So they returned the board believed to be the problem to Lionel and Lionel either reprogrammed it or returned a brand new board to my dealer which arrived on Christmas Eve .

Whatever Lionel did, the unit is now running  fine with the smoke unit “on” after a quick restoration using the new board by the kind folks at the Train Shack.

So kudos to both Lionel and The Train Shack for getting this problem resolved . From start to finish, it took a little over two months to get things corrected, which isn’t too bad in my book, especially at this time of year.

A bit of praise for Lionel amidst the negative comments floating around right now.

Lionel also fixed this issue on my unit, which I'm very happy about. However, one step forward, two steps back. The engine now will not accept any address updates. It constantly defaults to #1 in the Legacy remote. It will not accept anything else. In addition, the engine has rather significant cosmetic damage that was most certainly not present when they got it. The Styrofoam box also didn't look like it got run over by a truck when I sent it to them.....
