I am repairing a # 6-31962 Lionel Nickel Plate Berk , The harness from the engine to the tender melted . Looking into the tender I see different color wire's connected so I just can't follow colors to connect the repaired harness into the tender.  So far with the harness wires I have connected, I have Bell, Whistle, Steam Sounds. The engine don't move, no headlight or smoke. Anyone out there have a wiring diagram or know where I could find one                                                                                                                                                             PS This is another repair i am doing for free and spending too much time ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Thanks   Jim53

Jim53,

There should only be 4 wires in that tender harness, none of which have anything to do with smoke, motor control. The 4 wires are; ground, serial, rear light hot and rear coupler hot. The reason it will not run could be a 104 motor driver issue or an R2LC issue. Smoke could be R2LC or element. If you need a tender harness, you can get them from Lionel here; https://www.lionelsupport.com/...;submitButton=Search

If you need someone to correct the issue, shoot me an email at mreagan@twtrainworx.com.

Thanks,
Mike
