I was just sorting through a box of old Lionel "O" gauge straight tracks, and came across a few with plated ties, as opposed to blackened. I don't expect they are worth any more than any other piece of track, but I am curious. When did Lionel plate their "O" gauge track?
I think Lionel plated the ties on their standard gauge track, but I am uncertain. I have not looked at a piece in years.

I just sold two sealed cases(one 42" & one 10" Straights). They belonged to my grandfather. They were Std Gauge marked LIONEL NYC. From what I remember him telling me, he bought them in the early 30's mail order.
Plated ties? Same as the track, or decorative? Nickel/brass/copper?
Sounds cool for an industrial area just plated like the track.
I like the 0-27 "cement" grey ties for that reason.
