I don't have that car, but the Greenberg Repair manual says that cars built before 1954 have trucks with solenoid type couplers and those afterwards have magnetic types.  For the pre 1954, the same trucks are used on each end, with part number 521-1, while the later models use a light coupler truck with number 488-1 and a plain coupler truck 487-1.  In looking at the diagrams of the trucks, they all have centering springs, but 521-1 is different than the newer models.
