Which one are you looking at? Lionel has probably made at least 100 different ones in the modern era in addition to at least 9 variations in the post-war era and they vary considerably in markings, color, features and quality.

im sorry i thought i posted the link...sorry ill edit it with the link
Thought you were a READING RAILROAD fan
Thanks for the link but unfortunately I can’t give you an opinion on that specific one which is much newer than any I have and therefore likely different. Chances are someone else on this Forum is familiar with it.
Unless someone else knows something negative about that one, that looks like a good price until you add the shipping cost.
You could probably get one at York for that price.

My brother has one like the one you posted the link for. If you're not looking for a full scale sized caboose, it's not a bad model. Diecast trucks, I believe one standard lightbulb for illumination (maybe a downside), a figure up in the cupola and a nice paint job.
If you want a scale sized but not so expensive model, the MTH Railking N5c's are nice. I think I paid $25 on ebay for mine, if not less, and have been happy with it. It has slightly more detail than the lionel model (not as much as the Premier version of course), but looks nice on the end of a freight train pulled by my Lionel JLC Pennsylvania RR GG1.
I love all northeastern rail roads lol and santafe158 i agree with you on the mth ones i have one and i love it to death....i just like how the paint scheme looks on that one....idk if its prototypical...but either way its nice....wfttrains tho is right on the shipping part...but maybe still lol
At $19.95 I would have bought it first and ask questions after, I doubt you will find a Railking at that price.

But it's not $19.95, with shipping it's $30.

The value of the railking ones must have gone up a bit. I swear I only paid $20 or $25 plus shipping for mine on Ebay last year or the year before.
30 is still a good price for a Lionel porthole caboose.
yeah i think im going to get it this week
