If this is a 260 bumper, it may be easier to just replace it. They're extremely affordable online and at train shows (less than $10 for a nice, clean one).

I was going to grab the repair diagrams from Olsen's for you as well, but the site isn't loading, which happens all too often with them.

 I suggest you look at your circuit protection.

lol, I know   This is just a temporary set up just to see if I want to do it.  If the bumper had stayed put together, all would have been fine

Recently sold listings on the Bay:

Most of these had original boxes and occasionally paperwork.

Shipping ran between $3.00 and $8.00 on these listings ($13 for the 12 bumpers)

 At the Greenburg show in Edison this spring I bought 6 of them for $30, 4 of which were boxed and had paperwork.

I agree with all that you say Andrew B.  These days, if a 260 is >= $10 at a show, I just keep moving because there's no point in even bargaining.  3 for $10-15 is the new set point.

Actually, it wasn't going all that fast, just enough to get it moving and keep it going.  Ye Old Murphy, ya know.

I took all my less than perfect postwar 260 end bumpers and replaced them with Modern era 2282 or 2283 bumpers. I think they look just as nice, in fact I think I like the colors better. And they are very inexpensive. They came in boxes of two. I paid less than $20 per box for new ones. I see a wide range of prices for them on EBay.
