What is the range of the Lionel Ready to run sets remote? I'm getting Percy for my grandson to run on my Large MTH DCS layout. Will I be okay?

Lion Chief and Lion Chief Plus have been reported to have a pretty good range for the remote, 30-40 feet or more. I don't think you will have any problems.
fdg,
From the reports I am getting your Grandson should be in good shape, however I have not tested the equipment myself. In fact please come back and give us a report on the actual running ability, after using the RTR set on your bigger DCS layout.

You guys were right, I had no problem operating Lionel Thomas the train set Percy on my DCS layout. Just put the engine and cars on the MTH Realtrax, put batteries in the remote and it went around the whole loop with no problems. I was thinking of lowering the voltage to 12 from 18 VAC so that my grandson does not run it so fast that it may fall of the track. The remote controlled the train without any problems. I was very happy that I can run Lionel Ready to run sets on my MTH DCS layout.
Those are nice sets for the kids. Lots of the 'bigger' (adult) kids are enjoying them too. Lowering to 12 volts might be a good idea until he gets used to things and doesn't want to go full speed all the time. Glad is all worked out for you.
