I do plan to alter my settings and make a new engine module when the black modules become available.  I'm waiting on the USB/Serial connector before I can do anything.  I should have it next week.

does anyone know if when the black modules become available will it be possible to program the mars light to work automatically in concert with the cab light? or is the only way to do this automatically is to re-arrange the wires from the mars to the cab light. at this point i have edited my base s3 261 to turn on and off the mars light but being the fuss budget i am, (potty trained at gunpoint) i would like it to work as intended.

The black module will NOT change the operation of the MARS light.  You have made the easiest fix.  Some folks, I believe, have wired it in with the Cab light.
