As nice as the article is featuring the Canfield operation, I'm amazed that the writer never introduced Phil Hull in the article.  Just jumping in referring to him as Hull is very confusing to readers (including myself) not "in the know".  When I see stuff like this, I find myself browsing back through the earlier part of the article wandering, "Where did I miss this guy's name and who he is?".

It's possibly an oversight... or perhaps yet another example of how professional journalism standards have really become a lost art.

One way to look at how smooth this has taken place is that the word got out to a few back at the April York about Mike moving to a new job. Yet there have still been constant posts here praising Lionel service since then. I would say that is a smooth and non-disruptive transition >

I guess the biggest difference would be you should probably not email Mike directly wondering about how your engine in Ohio is doing.

Don't forget Lionel Service department's up coming open house.  If you're anywhere in the area it's really worth your while to see it and talk to Phil (Hull), Brian, Dean and a host of other experts.  Actually, if it doesn't interfere with specific Lionel business, I expect that Mike Reagan will be there as well.

Date is:  Saturday, August 17;  8:00A to 5:00P.   Come early because I expect the place to be crowded.  Lot's to see and do.  Food avail.  Drawings and prizes.

You can be sure that Mike will be on hand for the event.

Keep in mind that this is Internet reporting, not professional journalism (which is also sadly lacking these days).

Allan just because something is printed does not mean its professional journalism . The professional journalist died many years ago, now it's all about doing it on the cheap.

Isn't that pretty much what I said?  There are still a few "professional journalists" out there; you just don't often see them in our wonderful "new society."

And it's not all about "doing it on the cheap."  In many cases there are other agendas at work, and sometimes it's just sloppy reporting because of the type of journalism being practiced today where immediacy trumps everything else.  You can thank the Internet for that.

But back to the topic:  Phil Hull is running the Canfield service facility, and it's in capable hands.

Thanks for post Allan!

I am always happy and proud actually to see Lionel in the news.  I'm a huge fan of their customer service.

I just got my Linderbgh 460 Legacy PRR back from them. It was out of warranty. They fixed it by "replacing the locomotive". Techs comment said tons of problems inside from someone who did NOT know what there were doing.  He was 100% correct.  My wife and I are still laughing about comment. Price was very reasonable. I really screwed it up but they made me whole. They tell it like it is which is refreshing.

David, I also went back thinking i missed who Hull was. My opinion is this was not an oversight since clearly identifying who the person heading up this repair center is, is journalism 101, not to mention the disservice to Phil.
