Mine works fine, but you have to recognize it's limitations.  It's good for three or four boxcars and maybe two passenger cars.  Since it's intended to be a local switch engine, it has one of the attributes, it's no speed demon, nor does it need to be.  Since the pickups are fairly closely spaced, it can stall on some switches, though it does pretty good on my Fastrack O72 switches.

If you get one, do NOT pick it up holding the windows, or you'll be doing the very difficult disassembly to glue them back in.  Don't ask how I know this.

I can not stress enough what gunrunnerjohn said above.  Unfortunately I know very well how he knows this.  It doesn't take that much pressure either.  Just saying.

We have the NYC road name. Purchased it for Christmas 2013. It's been a great addition.

Yes, it can only handle a few cars and that's fine by me. I pretty much only ask it to move two boxcars at a time.

The detail is great and the running characteristics are really good despite not having Legacy speed control.

I have Lionel 036 and 072 Fastback switches and have never experienced a stalling issue with the Trackmobile.

The directional lighting and flashing beacon lights area pretty nice too.

Makes me wonder why this same under-the-hood package has turned up in a Lionel scale 44-tonner.
