With everybody buying Menards new track what has happened to original Lionel track. Are we hoarding it or are we throwing it away?

I am keeping both. I have a bunch of Lionel tubular in good shape and am using Lionel and Menards together on my current layout build. No issues so far.
When I had to buy some extra straights and 054 curves, Menards is too quick and convenient to waste time on finding Lionel on the big auction site or try to locate otherwise. Plus the price is about half.
I'm keeping every section of mine. I will not discard a section unless the insulators on the middle rail have broken down and it has become shorted. That very seldom happens. I believe that tubular track is a great track system and still has a place. I guess I am hoarding it.
Rod - the stuff lasts forever, has a great nostalgic look, and operates well.
I've taken surplus track to train shows and it sells immediately.

Nice layout.
I have quite a bit of 027 Lionel tubular track along with 3 sets of 027 manual switches that I'll be listing on the FS forum in the near future. I was saving it for my layout but decided to go with GG tinplate track. I love the low profile of the 027 track.
What comes to my mind in relation to Lionel tubular track ... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" -- i.e., with another track system. My L-shaped layout has Lionel O-gauge tubular track and tubular track O42 switches on its main level and O27 tracks on its upper level for three short trolley lines. It works for me ... although other hobbyists have their own preferences. Beauty (of trackwork) is in the eye of the owner.
