I'm using the Lionel 6-65121/6-65122 27" and 6-65167/6-65168 42" turnouts on my layout and after a long hiatus from it I've decided to start some wiring.

I have the the turnouts wired with 18-3 wire to an on-off-on momentary switch to trigger them.

Can someone tell me if it's possible to wire in an LED or a bulb to indicate track position?

If it is possible, what would I need? and if you have done it can you show me an example?

Hi Solar

Not perfect but you may want to consider this....when the switch is in the straight thru position, power is on the far side of the switch, no power, because of ins pins on the turnout side. Similarly, when the switch is on the turnout position, no power to the straight thru setting.

If you install a 3 or 5 mm incandescent bulb, using a spade connector to the track on each side...turnout or straight thru... and run the wire with the bulb to a location near the the switch control, it should light up when the switch is thrown straight or T/O. It would be one color bulb, but you would know that power was to the turnout or thru track. putting them close to each other might work out for you. I'd suggest a z-stuff 1002, but i think it has some wiring in it and might cause more problems than it is worth.
