Lionel has had the Polar Express  legacy steamer on blow-out for over a year now.  And given what dealers have been listing them for, the $407 sounds about right for Lionel to sell direct to consumers AND still make some profit.

Trust me guys... we would all be a very depressed group in need of therapy if we knew what it REALLY cost to make these jewels.

I'm so thankful we'll never know that!

Hard to beat those prices.  Enjoy the sale, have a great time.

Wow, those are great deals!

I'd be very surprised if the VL Hudson didn't sell!  About fell off the couch when I saw that photo!

The fact that Lionel restricts this sale to one weekend annually, and folks need to physically visit the warehouse to make a purchase... keeps the dealer network in line with it.  Also, some of these deals could be "factory re-furb" items too... others might be brand new old stock that's been sitting in the warehouse for a couple of years.

If Lionel were making these kinds of prices available to consumers more regularly, dealers might have a bone to pick.  But as it stands, warehouse sales are part of life in the big city, and dealers just roll with it.  Heck some may even drive to Concord to snag a few pieces for the store too!!!
