The "S" Gauge freight cars that Lionel has pictured in their new catalog, leaves a lot to be desired. They surely could of done better. I don't know how they expect "S" Gauge to sell, when they can't provide you folks with nicer looking freight cars.

Yes Ben it is. The window box car is a carry over from Lionel "Post War" days. It's a gold bullion car.
It makes sense, because Lionel is a toy train company. If you want scale, check out MTH's offerings. I like both scale and Flyer, so I'm happy that between the 2 companies both sides are covered.
Yeah, the freight car offerings are pretty disappointing, the "roadnames" for the traditional Flyer cars are pretty uninspiring.
I was also hoping to see at least one new "scale" car.

The new Flyer catalog says the new gold bullion-type or aquarium style car is "new tooling" for S-gauge. So Lionel apparently thinks there is a market for it in S.
We'll probably see the aquarium car variant in the next catalog.
Good Day,
After the NS Heritage Hopper series in finished, I hope that Lionel will offer their new Cylindrical Hoppers in prototypical color schemes and railroad names.
6 Bay Cylindrical Hoppers would be great!

Frank
They are calling this Koi goldfish aquarium car in the new catalog "#2," but I swear I have seen the identical car at Catoctin trains. I don't see how it is different from "#1."
Flagler: The Koi cars are O gauge aquarium cars, right? This is the S-Gauge board. As for the differences, though, they are most likely varied color patterns. Look them up on the Lionel product finder & compare.
Good Day Gentlemen,
What 20th Century and/or 21st Century rolling stock should Lionel offer? I'd like to see the auto racks in S Scale.
Regards,
Frank
I second that. I would love the Auto Racks as well.
