I was recently able to obtain a Lionmaster Legacy Big Boy (6-11149). The engine does run really well but, the cab light flashes constantly. No pattern, just constantly. Also, as soon as I apply track power the head lamp and marker lights go on and cannot be turned off until track power is turned off.

I have tried all the various reset options from the manual and from the forum. None have worked so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have had issues with my 6-11149 Big Boy, and I bought mine brand new old stock in 2019. Mine kept intermittently speeding up out of control, like it was in conventional mode running on full throttle.  I took it apart and started unplugging plugs and plugging them back in repeatedly to self clean the plugs and their connectors. I did the same thing with the R2LC board. I also sprayed tuner cleaner carefully on the plugs, to help clean the contacts. A trick I learned working on VCR's and a camcorder. Very important to do every single one, to rule out poor connection.  My Big Boy has not malfunctioned again as of yet. I have started it up and run it at least twenty times or so, and so far so good. Try self cleaning your plugs, and connectors. Being careful not to pull on the wires very hard, take your time. Pry the plugs apart with a thin blade if possible to avoid stress on the wires.  And when your done be sure that every connection on that chassis is properly plugged in. Make sure ground wires are tight etc.  Maybe it is not a malfunctioning board, rather poor connection. Since the electronics are no longer available for this locomotive, it is worth a shot.

This model has no diagnostic codes, so this is likely a programming issue.  I'd reprogram it, paying special attention to the proper keys and codes.  Here's the reprogramming sequence from the manual.

If the reset doesn't do it, there may be a problem with the locomotive.  Sadly, most of the electronics have been declared obsolete by Lionel and are no longer available.

I reprogramed as you suggested, John, and it worked! The cab flashing has stopped. Interestingly I had done this procedure yesterday using the Cab3 app. Today I used the Cab2 remote. Not sure if that was the difference but it worked.

The lights still stay on whenever power is applied. Secarider, does your Big Boy do the same thing? Could be normal for this engine.

Just powered up my 11149.  All lights come on (back-up light for a second).  No smoke at idle.  Underway, cab light goes out.  Smoke on or off the fan stays on.  Also had a problem a few years ago with engine taking off at full throttle on occasion.  We found a wire was shorting on a metal piece inside that was the problem.  No trouble since.  Great sound system.  RICH
