Universal Remote not connecting

I have a LionChief 2.0 engine that I use a Lionel universal remote to control.   For some reason the remote has stopped being able to find and connect to the engine.  Oddly I CAN find the engine when I use the App on my phone, but it’s not working anymore with the remote.

I've updated the firmware on the remote (didn’t fix the issue).  I also tried the remote with another train and it finds that train right away so I know it’s not an issue with the remote.  

Any ideas?
