Hi everyone I have a Lionel 6-28225 SPSF SD40T-2 diesel locomotive and I'm trying to remove the front truck to replace the side frame. Does anyone know how to release the truck from the motor. This is an older locomotive from 2004-2005. I have never done this before and I can't replace the side frame while the truck is on the locomotive. I also own a K-Line K3688-4449C SP Daylight 4449 Locomotive and it runs great with the Cab-1 controller but when I try to use my Legacy controller I have to turn the controller many many times just to get it to move. Does anyone have any suggestion's on how to get this engine to run on the Legacy controller?

As for your truck assembly, this is a very good representation and should give you an idea. I would look at screw 13.
You should post your K-Line Daylight Command question in the Lionel TMCC, LEGACY and ERR forum.

Thanks for the info I really appreciate you sending me that.
Oh my. This is the worst motor removal truck I’ve ever done. Have patience my friend. There are screws going down through the truck and screws going up in to the motor mount. Take pictures and notes as you go. Good luck.
@Gary Marsh, here is another thread with photographs of a similar setup:
