I'm looking to buy and inexpensive (cheap) railking subway set. Not really concerned about roadname etc. There are some locosound sets out there priced to move, but I'd like some feedback on the sound system. Is it Horrible?
Real subway sound is horrible. If the real sound were put into the toy trains, we would be complaining about the humdrum of steel wheels on steel rails. Yuk!
I have a set of Rail King LoV cars with Locosound running alongside BMT Q cars with Proto 2.0 sound. The Locosound does not stand out, and it is not objectionable.
My guess is that both sound sets resemble El trains, not subway trains.
PS, I rode the IND E, F and D lines for many years in 1960s.
