 My fathers original log dumping car he had as a child blew a sliding shoe. To change the shoe I had to remove the truck which destroyed the original mounting pin. I purchased some new ones, but they don’t look the same, and are not installing correctly.

This is the dump car.

The pin on the left is the old one. The difference is in the retaining clips on the side. The old pin has a longer more flexible flared out retainer. The new pin on the right has a smaller flare, and does not flex at all.

The pin fits in the mounting hole fine, but will not push in further than this. It is resting on the flared side retainer and will not flex to allow it to drop in. I’ve used about as much pressure as I dare, I don’t want to break anything. 

Thank you for any help you can give me, this thing has me stumped.
